Loftus is a 20 plus year veteran of the fire service.  Before coming to Caroline County in 2012, he served as Public Safety Director for Accomack County, Virginia since 2003, where he led a system of over 700 volunteer and career fire and EMS personnel.

He entered the fire service as a Fire/Rescue Lieutenant with Fairmount Volunteer Fire
Department in Syracuse, New York where he served from 1988-1994. His first career position was with the Garner Fire Department in Garner, North Carolina as a Firefighter First Class. In 1998, he was hired by the Wake County, NC Public Safety Fire/Rescue Division where he rose from Training Officer to Shift Supervisor.

He holds numerous professional certifications including Executive Fire Officer (EFO), Chief Fire Officer Designation (CFOD) and Certified Emergency Manager (CEM).

Loftus earned a Bachelor of Science in Fire Science: Fire Administration from the
University of Maryland, a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of New York College at Cortland and a Masters of Education from the University of Virginia.

American Heart Association CPR

Caroline County Fire Rescue will be offering several CPR courses on Sunday, 19 February. These classes will all be taught at the Caroline County Emergency Operations Center located at 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia 22514.

4PM Burn Law Begins Feb 15th

Caroline County Fire and Rescue would like to remind residents that the Virginia Department of Forestry’s 4:00 PM burning law will be in effect beginning on February 15th.
